The first drop down for the medication orders, the one that contains instructions like "continue", "start", "stop", etc used to be editable by users but no longer is. Reason is, the program is designed to recognize only certain words (eg "start", "continue" etc) and when users created new verbs it confused matters.
That said, if there is a verb in the second column that needs to be added, please let us know and we'll see if we can accommodate you.

New Videos
We are in the process of producing a series of videos that explain how to use ICANotes.
A video called "Treatment Plan" is now available on our web site www.icanotes.com. The tab "The Interface" (soon to be renamed "Video Demos") will take you to the link.
Soon to be released is an introductory video showing how to make an Initial Exam and a Progress Note and another video showing how to use a variety of special features in ICANotes, such as Algorithms and How to Make Your Own Buttons.

ICANotes and the Mac
Someone asked, "Will ICANotes Internet work with a Mac?"
Yes, it will. However, there is a printing issue. If you intend to make notes and not print them, all is well. You can store your notes electronically and access them whenever you want to. If you need to occasionally print a note, you can copy it and paste it into a text document and print it. But, if you want to regularly print your notes then you might want to consider running Windows emulation software on your Mac.

E/M Service Code Changes: Consultation
Changes were made to the Consultation service codes in 2006 (http://psychiatry.org/psych_pract/2006UpdateonCPTCoding.pdf ). We apologize for the delay in incorporating these into the ICANotes program, but they are now functional.
The main change is that there are now no such things as follow up consultations. Instead, when a patient seen as a consult is seen for follow-up, the service code is the same as a subsequent examination at the site. So, for example, a follow up of a consultation in a hospital is coded as an In Patient, Subsequent Hospital Care, 99232.
Also, who requested the Consultation and the fact that a copy of the consultation was sent to the requester should be documented in your note. For those doing consults on a regular basis, user buttons for these purposes are recommended.
